Why don't the files I import show up in the Files bin?

I recently got this question about the Files Bin in Cortex.

After importing a bunch of files, they show up in the Clips Bin, but not in the Files Bin.

The reason this happens is because the files bin only shows files that have either been indexed by Cortex using the Copy tool, or file entries from an imported manifest.

Indexing all the files can be time consuming depending on the number of files and their size as its also when we calculate the MD5 checksums for each file. That’s why we don’t do it automatically during import folder.

However, if you wish to index files after importing them without making a copy, you can do so. Please see this topic for more details on how to do that:
