Updated:10/26/2026
CORTEX V7.0 has everything you need to generate high quality, on time dailies every night… and more! Copy, Color, and Sync any camera format while Transcoding in the background. V7.0 now includes MTai Shot Detection, MTai Matte Detection, and a new VFX Pull Workflow Action. Just drag and drop your OCN and EDL. New SDR to HDR conversion uses MTI FILM-designed transforms for Dolby Vision and HLG, with content mapping that matches your original SDR. The QC module now adds Radiation Detection to find radiation artifacts in ARRIRAW camera files. Also compare dual streams with synchronized wipe playback, and create Avid Bins with AI Slate Detection and sound sync. All of it runs faster with TensorRT. Still generates and analyzes IMF packages with HDR and Dolby Vision, creates DCPs, and checks and repairs Dead Pixels resulting from camera sensor defects. The free two-week evaluation version includes a visual watermark and audio degradation of outputs.

New Features in CORTEX V7
VFX Pull Workflow Action with Fast Traceback The new VFX Pull workflow action automates a visual effects pull from EDL to delivered vendor package:
Each EDL event is traced back to its source clip with confidence-scored matching
A review window shows every match, with bulk confirmation and keyboard shortcuts
Reels are built and rendered automatically, and finished files are copied to each vendor’s folder
The new Traceback Cache Manager keeps traced media folders cached, so repeat pulls against the same media are much faster
Dual-Stream SDI Playback with Wipe Comparison CORTEX V7 drives two independent SDI streams from one composition timeline:
Two streams from a single AJA Kona 4, Kona 5, Corvid 88 or Blackmagic DeckLink 8K Pro, or from two DeckLink cards
The Split V1/V2 tab compares two video tracks with Horizontal, Vertical, Diagonal, Box, Side By Side and Fade wipes
Separate SDI mode sends V1 and V2 to their own SDI outputs with no compositing
Each deliverable can be assigned to SDI Channel A or B, so an SDR grade and a Dolby Vision HDR deliverable can play at once
Dolby Vision content mapping can be applied per video track for like-for-like HDR comparison
SDR to HDR Conversion with Dolby Vision Content Mapping MTI FILM’s designed transform expands a finished SDR grade into HDR, with Dolby Vision Level 1 analysis run on the result:
Available in the Color Tool and as the new SDR to HDR workflow action for unattended batch conversion
The workflow action uses an EDL for the cuts when one is dropped with the media, or runs MTai shot detection when there is none
Dolby Vision analysis tuning presets let you trade highlight detail against the amount of display mapping
The LOW (250 nits) band is included. The MEDIUM and HIGH bands, and the controls for fine-tuning a band, require the SDR to HDR option
AI Shot Detection and the Shot Review Tool A new AI shot detection model finds cuts more reliably on difficult material such as dissolves, flash frames and heavy grain. The new Shot Review window shows the first and last frame of every detected shot beside the next one, so false cuts can be spotted and removed in a single pass.
AI Matte Detection in the QC Module A new AI-based matte detection algorithm measures the matte on every frame of a composition and graphs it. Mattes that drift, disappear or change aspect ratio are listed against timecode and can be included in the QA report.
Radiation Artifact Detection and Correction The new Radiation module in the QA Tool finds the single-frame sensor speckle caused by cosmic rays and airport X-ray. Candidates are reviewed with a before-and-after preview, and accepted artifacts are repaired at render time.
MTai Frame Rate Conversion – TensorRT Acceleration The MTai Frame Rate Conversion tool runs on NVIDIA TensorRT:
Up to 20× faster rendering at HD resolutions
Up to 8× faster rendering at UHD resolutions
The new MTAi Frame Convert workflow action and Render watch folders can convert frame rates automatically
ACES 2.0 Color Transforms ACES 2.0 is now available alongside ACES 1.x, with the ACES 2.0 output transforms built into the CORTEX render pipeline.
Workflow Actions CORTEX V7 includes eight workflow actions: Sync, Render, QC, Dead Pixels, Create IMF, VFX Pull, MTAi Frame Convert and SDR to HDR. The QC action runs video level, matte and loudness analysis unattended, and the Create IMF action can now add a Dolby Atmos track.

System Requirements CORTEX V7 requires an NVIDIA GPU with a driver that supports CUDA 12.9. The first time an AI feature is used on a machine (shot detection, slate detection, frame rate conversion or radiation detection), CORTEX builds an optimized engine for that GPU. This can take several minutes and happens only once per feature.
Summary CORTEX V7 brings automated VFX pulls, dual-stream SDI review, SDR to HDR conversion with Dolby Vision, and new AI tools for shot, matte and radiation artifact detection, alongside updated camera support and faster, more reliable rendering.
