You may see myself or one of the other moderators editing your posts or moving them around from time to time.
Don’t be offended if you see this!
We just do these things to try to keep the forum as useful as possible for the whole community.
Here are some of the things we try to do to keep things tidy:
-
One topic per topic
When creating a topic, especially to report bugs, issues or feature requests, try to make one topic for each issue or idea. This will make it easier for people to participate in the ensuing discussion, as well as make it easier to find relevant discussions in the future. -
Don’t change a topic midstream
If you want to start a tangent, there’s a feature for that, you can click ‘Reply as new Topic’ and it will link back to the current one automatically. If you have some text selected in the current topic, it will automatically quote it in the new one. -
No need for salutations and signatures
Coming from the world of email, it may seem odd not to start off your post with ‘Hi’ and sign off with ‘Best’ or ‘Regards’ or ‘Thank you’. But they really aren’t necessary here and the discussions read better in the long run without them. -
Love makes the world go 'round
If you like someone else’s thought or idea, you don’t need to post ‘+1’ or ‘me too’, but do show your appreciation by clicking the button. That said, if you have other details to add about an issue or you have another use case for a proposed feature, it’s worth adding a post to elaborate.
Most of this is just elaborating on the guidelines in the Keep it Tidy section of the FAQ.
