Many have noticed that there is no MTI LUT format. This can cause confusion sometimes when folks are sending LUTs from another application, or when they are using the ARRI LUT Generator application and wondering which of the many options in the dropdown for file format to choose.
We have considered adding our own LUT format for this very reason, but… Aren’t there enough of these things already?
We strive to support all the possible formats out there. You can export any of the available formats on the ARRI LUT Creator website and they should all work. Give it a try.
Here are the 3D LUTs we have tested to date:
- Adobe Affer Effects (.cube)
- Apple (.m3d)
- Autodesk (.3dl)
- Autodesk Lustre (.lut)
- Assimilate Scratch (.3dl)
- Cine-tal (.lut)
- Codex Digital (.txt)
- Colorfront (.3dmesh)
- DaVinci Resolve (.cube)
- DFT Luther (.txt)
- Digital Vision Nucoda (.cms)
- DVS Clipster (.txt)
- Eyeon Fusion (.3dl)
- Filmlight (.cube)
- Foundry Nuke (.cube)
- Iridas (.cube)
- Pandora (.m3d)
- Pomfort Silverstack (.lut)
In addition, we support reading CDL metadata from
- Color Decision List XML files (.cdl)
- Color Correction Correction XML files (.ccc)
- DPLites Txt files (.txt)
- Avid ALE files (.ale)
Note that CDL information is imported differently than 3D LUTs, as it actually sets the primary color correction node to the specified CDL values rather than acting as a ‘black box’ LUT.
We also support a variety of 1D LUTs, as well as Autodesk Color Transform Files (.ctf). Internally, we store LUTs in an XML format based on the same Academy/ASC specification that Autodesk has adopted for the CTF format.
If you find a format that doesn’t work, try one of the others, and let us know so we can take a look,
